Overally this one is a bit tricky bit that raises some mixed feelings.

Bezos drawing is excelent on its own, and the few beauty-spots are easily fixable things. The green underwater color... as long as the hull is shaded correctly, I dont care if its yellow or pink, as long as people follow the orginal most accurately. And green fits perfectly on the italian ships

I did however took a glance of the MConrads/Enrr contribution's orginal one and it still stroke me as well. I remember when Enrr joined in and started to really make the italian folder flourish, his Audacity was one of the "best" among all shipbucket drawings.

So it is hard to make up my mind. I know that neither of those two are propaply to come making any demands on their own here, unless summoed with some dark necromancy, and knowing the gentleman nature of them, they would propably aknowlidge this one's superioirty ;). Also, I don't want to be unnesserically disrespectfull or disgouracing towards our new artists anymore. I know it is hard to have such great artists in the bucket where most of the favority ships are allready drawn :(

Perhaps we set up in next uploading a museum archive for the older drawings that have been replaced in these recent months?

On all the above points I can only say that I've researched it thoroughly. While most other modern Italian warships launched did, indeed, have a dark red underwater hull, the Audaces stand fairly unique by not only being launched with a green u/w hull but also retaining it. In fact I've seen it it, and it could probably be even a shade or two darker, once in service and exposed to the perils of the Mediterranean Sea (Barnacles, chemical compounds, the water's PH-level etc) but I settled for this. The 'B' turret is an artistic license inpired of pictures of the Ardito firing the Royal salute; the turret is entirely from the parts sheet, so that's kosher. The only thing I've done is to slightly widen the gun cradle opening and elevating the gun. I stand for that. As for the whip antennas on the funnel: it's my choice to show them like that since they are, indeed fairly massive or substantial and they are entirely in ship color. A slightly darker shade of grey has been used to represent this. As for WhyMe's critique about black pixels, I believe (unless the said gentleman may point it out otherwise) they are the results of how the parts are drawn, such as gun muzzles etc; in other words very little choice there, though I reckognize it! As for the particular point abut the stabilizers: yes I am sure. They are retractable in to the hull side and yard pictures does evidence large openings above where whereto they are being stowed when not in use! I'd say a very typical, sophisticated Italian solution - as always!

I do agree with what the valued gentlemen has pointed out about the earlier artist's (enrr's) excellent contribution. To his immense credit he has served as a shining beackon to me as an artist trying out the sb-style for the first time. I enjoy his later choice of 'warm' colors to dress his ships, and I've attempted very consiously to find his blend of grey. With my Paint that took some effort!
Now whether my drawings should replace the old renditions of this class is of course none of my say. Therewith I have no ambition. My only aim was to fullfill a desire to show how the ships really appeared, based on all available sources. All other considerations must by necessity take a secondary role.

As for the kind appraisals I have received I thank you all and feel very encouraged by your kind selected words!

Thanks for the correction on the hull colour; so it wasn't just the Russians who used the same pigments. Re the overall drawing, again, another fine rendering, but I haven't compared it yet with the original. This class did offer a considerable amount of 'kit' for it displacement, and also carried a large crew. I would be interested to know if that reflected the mission: not having to be away from a home port for long (as in the Med), so no necessity for more fuel, provisions, reloads etc. as on similar sized warships designed for the North Atlantic? :)

Most of the black pixels are associated with the boat storage areas and from what I can see a bit of careful juggling should solve most of them.
The black marks just above the boot topping aren't exactly kosher either.
Also, in SB guns are always shown aligned for-n-aft at 0 elevation, unless they are mechanically incapable of doing to.

PB, you're right about your assumption, though in all fairness, the Italians have always done their share of Atlantic patrols, including the now dissolved STANAVFORLANT. But the chief reaon why the Italians chose to limit the displacement was a pecuniary one; they had opted for up to six Audace-type DDGs but in the end, got only two. I suspect very much, though I have not been able to acquire any confirmation there about, that the fact that the Audace sailed for several years without her after pair of OTO Melara 76s was due to weight concerns. She appaear to have had some more trouble in this respect than did her sister.

Thiel: you may be right about the juggling thing. I will certainly look into it. As for the 'black marks' above the boot topping. Yes, maybe not kosher, but when the original shows it that way (it's a varied number and -sized scuppers) then it's what I do. In other words they are there, and they are black. As for the gun. Well, my take on this is very simple: why offer it as an alternative if one cannot use it? In other words: if it is on the parts lists - and this variant is! - then someone in all likelihood will use it! - As I did!

The front view for the gun is on the parts sheet for people who wants to do front views.
As for the scuppers, they should be done in dark grey with black outlines, like most other black objects.

I have attempted to follow some of the constructive advice given sofar. (With the eception of the 'B' turret mount; that stays as it is!) And an especial thanks to Lazer-One for pointing out the pennant number issue. I had had that in my mind to change, but somehow, I suppose got blinded on the way. The evidence was quite literally written on the walls! :) :D  Anyway, I hope these edits will make the drawings more pleasing to the eye! ;)

Well, dear Thiel, I understand your point, but there's (as far as I've been able to deduce!) nothing that explicitly states so! Ergo, I think it looks fine the way it is; kinda gives another perspective on the ship itself...
