IAI was designed in Israel in the late 1960s, having in mind being the replacement of the the ubiquitous Douglas DC-3/C-47. With an excellent STOL capability, Arava was rough and reliable. And armed version (2 side blisters for MaDeuce heavy MG, one more i the tailcone, and two hardpoints in the fuselage for rockets (either 68, 70 or 82 mm) was marketed and sold to several Air Forces, mainly in Central and South America.
