This in fact not true. These four ships (HAVILA CAPELLA, CASTOR, POLARIS and POLLUX) were completely built by Tersan in Turkey, delivered there and sailed under their own power to Norway. They may have done some minor fixes etc in Norway, but interior outfitting was complete and all sea trials had already been done in Turkey. Havila had accumulated so many delays in building these ships that eventually all four had to be assiged to Tersan for complete construction there.

Good morning, guys.

MV Tumbes was a CPV (Compañía Peruana de Vapores, Peruvian Company of Steamers) motor vessel with an interesting history. Originally builtby Burmesiter and Wein as MV Irland for the Danish French Steamship Line of Copenhage in the late 1920s. She was a ship built with the standart B&W medium diesel tramp vessel design. After the occupation of Denmark in 1940, Irland was interned in Peru. In 1941 with the worsening situation between Ecuador and Peru, Peruvian government took over Irland and she was asigned to CPV. During the short lived Ecuatorian-Peruvian war of 1941, Irland had CPV crew but with Naval officers, and together with SS Mantaro was the main contribution of the merchant fleet to the war effort. In 1944 Irland was bought and renamed Tumbes. After 30 years under Peruvian flag, Tumbes was paid off in the early 1970s.
