CV-35 L.f. flame thrower tankette
The most produced modification to the Italian CV-33 and CV-35 tankettes was the L.f. model.
The flame thrower tankettes were sent to Spain as a part of the Italian mission during the civil war. These early modifications involved towing a large 520 litre fuel trailer. The loss of manoeuvrability from the trailer reduced the practicality of the vehicles, and so a smaller 125 litre tank mounted on the rear was built in Spain. This tank though projected above the decking of the tankette, and so was vulnerable to enemy fire.
In Italy a different 100 litre tank was fitted, being almost flush with the upper decking. These vehicles were deployed in numbers into Italian Africa, and fought against British forces in North Africa.
