Hello everyone,

Today I have for you an interesting never-built Soviet design, the Project 1126 nuclear AA-escort cruiser. Quite a mouthful!

This ship was apparently supposed to be an escort for the Moskva class helicopter cruisers, and was proposed to be either nuclear, steam or diesel. I believe Version 3, which I have drawn, is one of the nuclear proposals. It had an interesting armament, which consisted of two batteries of twin-armed SA-4 Ganef launchers - I never knew they were going to make a naval version of the Krug until this! It was also armed with 2x SA-N-3 Goblet twin-armed launchers, 4x twin 57mm AK-725 turrets and 2x RBU-6000 launchers mounted near the bow.

I found this design to be very interesting, albeit shockingly tall! It would have certainly been an interesting ship, had it been built, and I wonder if it would have rivalled ships like the Albanies and Long Beach in the roll-olympics.

Like discussed in the Discord, this variant you have drawn illustrates the conventional steam powered variant. Those large black holes in the side of mast are actually Macks (don't ask about their practicality, these neverwhere drawings are often were skecthy at best).

Great to see this original design in the SB.
At the same time I'd say that shading and some detailing (mooring etc.) could be improved.
