Not ships but something non-naval but maybe still within this British AU?

British Rail goes full technowizard and goes for a high-speed monorail instead of the historical APT programme...

[ img ]
APT-E is the test prototype, a 200mph high-speed monorail running on a specially-built monorail test route.

[ img ]
The ATP-P production version enters service in 1981 along a newly built West Coast Mainline monorail. Speeds up to 250mph.

This second APT-P version is a little less problematic and more realistic. Using an overhead monorail means rebuilding countless bridges and platforms and costs millions so using a lower rail avoids swaying carriages (but could still use tilt), fits existing platforms and fits within the standard pantograph size for tunnels and bridges. So is a more realistic fantasy version.

The Balmoral Bird high-speed monotrain from London to Scotland.

Nominally an off-top (hardly a "Royal Navy", after all), but a great work. :)

HMS Sheffield, Type 42 Destroyer, 1971

My Type 82 Sea Dart/Sea King destroyer was my ideal Type 82 replacement that would replace the need for Type 42 too.
However, as ever this AU is plug and play with various options, so one alternative is the 1969 Type 42 design.

Not much changes other than:
4.5in Mk 8 replaced by my AU 3in L/70 Mk 8 twin gun mount
Sea Cat 2 SAMs added with GWS-24 fire-control
Type 965M replaced by my AU NSR (New Surveillance Radar) 3-D air-search radar.
Plus some additional EW/jamming capability.

Seems quite realistic and plausible option.

wasn't the Dutch Radar like they used on the Tromp class destroyers not also in the frame for the radar or was that just the Type 82?

In my AU there is no Type 988 'Broomstick'.

I was looking in the missiles in page 17, the Red Hebe and Red Dean didn't exist in this scenario?

Red Hebe would not exist, but Red Dean might in some form.
