Viper-Carrier Strike Group (CSG-7)

[ img ]

Carrier Strike Group 7 ("VIPER-CARRIER STRIKE GROUP"), abbreviated CSG-7, is the seventh carrier strike group in service with the German Navy. The group is constituted as an escort for the Erich Hartmann-class aircraft carrier, the KMS Otto Kittel (CVAN-197), these strike groups are used in a variety of functions, all of which involve gaining and maintaining air control of the sea. In this way, its history begins at the end of the Cold War, as well as the global conflicts and rivalries between current superpowers, covering a total of 6 deployments in its 7 years of operation to the Western Pacific Ocean and the Sea of Japan. The last 5 aircraft carriers of this class, being the newest, will still be on a par with their sisters in the Berlin and Diamant class since although their design does not allow them to stealth from the radar, it is true that their offensive and defensive capabilities are key. for the strategic operations of the Kriegsmarine.

The group is quite large and modern, consisting of a series of ships designed exclusively for the protection of the aircraft carrier.

Hamburg-Class (DDGS)

[ img ]

K.M.S. Hamburg (DDGS-001)

The new class of stealth missile destroyers, it would seem a too complex project but it is really built around the altmark class, designed and built as a more reliable alternative and with a budget measured against stealth super-carriers and their budget that every day rises higher. The first ship of the class entered service on June 13, 2005, the new class has 8 initial units that plan to be used as escort for the Berlin class and the future diamant, it became the only class of active destroyers designed that It counts as a reconversion and not an autonomous design started from 0, it should be noted that this class has the best of current radars such as the SPYR-15 and the RFNSP-7G anti-aircraft search radar.

K.M.S. Dusseldorf (DDGS-009)

She is only the first in a series of new stealth missile destroyers, these are part of the Hamburg class and although their design changes radically due to the absence of a rear hangar as well as a lighter design that although only reduces overall dimensions and the ability to maintain a flexible platform for resource containers, the advantages that this new design also offers are greater speed, greater maneuverability and a larger and more varied storage for ammunition. The first ship of the class entered service on October 27, 2006, the new class plans to have 14 active units by the middle of the following year that plan to be used as escorts for the Berlin class and the future diamant, it became the only destroyer class. designed assets that counts as a retrofit and not an autonomous design from 0, it should be noted that this class has the best of current radars such as the SPYR-15 and the RFNSP-7G anti-aircraft search radar.

K.M.S. Bad Wildungen (DDGS-011)

[ img ]

The KMS Bad Wildungen (DDGS-011) is a guided missile destroyer of the German Navy. It is the 11th Hamburg class ship and the first to be named after the German region of Bad Wildungen. The ship has stealth capabilities and despite its enormous size it has a radar section equivalent to that of a small fishing boat. On February 5, 2012, the ship began its sea trials to join the kriegsmarine as part of the third group of stealth aircraft carriers, the "Kobra Carrier Strike Group". Although it seems that it sustains considerable firepower, the 48 rear VLS are focused on long-range anti-aircraft missiles, as you may know, the weakest part of the ship is its AA sector despite having only one anti-aircraft system (LIS) and countermeasures. electronic, unlike its brothers of the same class, this new batch of ships already has two railgun type weapons of 127mm long range and two additional navigation radars, this does not greatly affect its stealth thanks to the materials with those who are wearing the hull.

He was never shot down or forced to land due to enemy fire, is currently the largest ship in dimensions the kriegsmarine has in its inventory, it contemplates a greater tonnage based on 110,000t and a series of changes compared to the now obsolete class (Graf zeppelin II).

He was the holder until his death of the highest German decoration of his time: the Iron Cross with Gold Oak Leaves, Swords and Diamonds of the Third Reich. Currently it is the most advanced and modified ship of its class, in service with the kriegsmarine in its inventory, this contemplates a tonnage greater than 110,000t, these are part of the 5 aircraft carriers that will continue in service until the gradual replacement of the first 5 from the class by the now more modern and powerful "Berlin" class and its older brothers from the "Diamant" class.

Heuss-Class (LHD)

K.M.S. Rheinsberg (LHD-11)

The Heuss class was for 5 years one of the most efficient amphibious assault ship classes in the kriegmarine inventory. Specifically, the ship Rheinsberg (LHD-11) and its sister Hoxter (LHD-12) the latter, the most capable ships in their light amphibious landing roles, this class laid the foundations for the later Weimar class, these two resemble a little but in general they have big changes in design and architecture. All Heuss-class ships were named after important German provinces. 14 ships of this class were planned for the long term, but only 8 were completed, before seeing the offensive and defensive qualities from which the class suffered limitations. these same limitations were corrected and improved in the Weimar class, leaving this class in a secondary role.
