K.M.S. Altmark (DDG-501)
The Altmark class of missile destroyers is the third generation of the German Navy to be designed and built around the Aegis Combat System and the new SPY-12E multifunction radar. The first ship of the class entered service on August 15, 2003, the new Altmark, with 41 planned units, became the only class of active destroyers designed around a reduction in size and cost of its sister class "Munich -Class ", to maintain the balance and obtain more units with a lower cost.
