Shipbucket

Hello everyone, I've finally completed GK 5041, I started him in February 2021 and he's been on the stocks ever since, I decided yesterday to finish the drawing.

GK 5041 was to have a length of 270m, a width of 33.5m, depth of 9m and weigh in at 50,000 tons. Armament was to consist of a main armament of eight 42cm (16in) guns in a 4 x 2 superfiring arrangement, a secondary armament of eight 15cm (5.9in) SK L/45 guns in casemates, four 15cm (5.9in) FlaK L/45 guns, and one 70cm (27.6in) submerged torpedo tube mounted in the bow.

I agree, very nice drawings and good to have a series of all these interesting but little known design studies.

Thanks emperor_andreas and VC_, I think people are bored of seeing ships of similar design and the length of time it is taking to draw the series, I know I am. I haven't been very active on Shipbucket for quite a while but hope to change that.

Great work! Nice to see a continuation of this thread!

I appreciate your drawings here very well. There are nowhere similar dipictions of these ships in such a way. In most books they are dipicted only in poor B/W sketches. Maybe I should add a little technicel detail, according to the original draft drawings the bigger ones of this series would have had a powerplant which would have consist of up to 24 oilfired boilers plus 16 coalfired boilers which would have delivered between 180.000 and 220.000 SHP.

Yeah, I would like to remark that I am always wondering how was the industry cabable to manufacture such powerful propulsion systems even 100 years ago. For example the Lexingtons, G3 battlecruisers (proposed), Hood, or the german proposed battelships you have depicted here. I am always wondering what a powerful industry has already existed back then. Anyway, your series here is absolutely unique.
