Dayson-class torpedoboat destroyer



The Daysons were the first Antaran destroyers to make use of a raised forecastle, vastly improving its sea-keeping. As a result of this, they were also the first true ocean-going destroyers in the navy and operated alongside the the battle line, however their range was still very limited and could not travel far from port.

Octavia & Eriss-class torpedoboat destroyers



The Octavias, and their cousins the Eriss class, were Antara's first torpedoboat destroyers. Despite being screens to defend the fleet from torpedo boat attacks, they themselves also carried torpedoes with which to conduct their own attacks with. They were fast, maneuverable, and carried small rapid fire guns to engage other torpedo boats with. However they had very poor seakeeping ability, a problem with which a solution was attempted in the Eriss's moderately raised forecastle. This was ultimately unsuccessful, and their ability to fight on the high seas was null until later destroyers were launched.

Lucentia Bay-class light carrier



What would become the Lucentias originally started as far back as the early 60s, for a light carrier design that would play an escort role in a task force rather than the flagship it would eventually become. Back then, the missile was thought to bring surface combatants back as the core of a fleet, rather than the aircraft carrier. Many admirals at the wanted to shelf the fleet carrier, and build light carriers instead. Ultimately the original idea never came to pass, but the rising threat of submarines in the 70s restarted the light carrier project.

This time round the navy was in need of cheaper vessel capable of flying ASW aircraft and acting as a hunter-killer flagship. Its S/VTOL project was also restarted to give the vessel its own CAP aircraft capable of launching from a short runway. The vessel grew in size to account for the fact that most of its escorting destroyers at the time would not be able to carry a large manned ASW helicopter. The ship was capable of carrying up 28 craft. Its missile armament consisted of two MkM2 launchers with long-range anti-air RIM-4s and RUR-2 rocket-propelled torpedoes.

The class saw action in the Nuclear War, but scored no submarine kills. By the time of the Umsansi Conflicts, they were showing age and were mostly obsolete. All members were retired by 1425.
