Quick and shitty kitbash I did as a joke on discord, with apologies to Bill Watterson and the artists

Kriegsheim's Gepanzert-10

[ img ]

Gepanzert-10 is an armored truck from Kriegßeim in two major modifications (The 10K kampf and the 10B Befehl)The K from Kampf is dropped for simplicity due to it being the standard version.

Top to Bottom Left to Right:

Gepanzert-10K

Gepanzert-10K(Winter Camouflage, 59th Gepanzert Battalion)

Gepanzert-10K(Summer Camouflage, 112th Gepanzert Battalion)

Gepanzert-10K(Parade Livery, 2nd Gepanzert Division)

Gepanzert-10B(26th Gepanzert Battalion)

Many years ago (like 2013-2015 - it was after I started drawing in FD scale, but before the 1 June 2015, because that's the date on which the original file was copied to the hard drive of my recent computer) I was approached by one of the rather lesser-known members of our community (whose name I unfortunately don't remember - messages are looong gone - and he seems to be no longer around) with a request to design and draw a fictional 1930s very-heavy-bomber. Around that time I've made several works for other Members, although these merely involved either improving their basic designs or turning non-SB/FD kitbashes into SB/FD-style ones. Back then I've made only basic sketch showing just layout of the plane, and mailed it to the User in question, but he disappeared before I got an answer, and I didn't continued work any further.

Fast forward several years. I'm currently preparing major SB/Real-life project, but got stuck on one thing and needed to order some extra source material. So while waiting for it (in fact, it arrived yesterday, therefore I'm not continuing with this one), and with Heavy Bomber Challenge (sigh ;P ) going on, I reminded myself of that old sketch, and thought to revisit it...

(If that User from years ago is still/again here, please speak out, so I could add You to credits - although the drawing itself is 100% mine, the source of the concept should be IMHO credited)

I don't think that it would be a very successful plane: that vertical "wing" for top engines would certainly impact both drag, weight and stability, and with crosswinds it would be horrible to handle. On the other hand, plane's size (bomb bay is big enought for 2 Tallboys, but wether the plane could lift them and carry with an appreciable speed is another matter) and potential range could make it useful as long-range patrol aircraft (but rather a flying radar station, than a submarine chaser on it's own, considering it's probable poor maneuverability) and a heavy transport, as well as a makeshift airliner of the Lancastrian or Halton variety.

Impressive.
Those top engines remind me of the Tupolev ANT-16 and -20
