An exert from the intelligence brochure given to a Federation Army Infantryman in 2019, detailing the fictional nation he is about to liberate:
"The People’s Republic of Novia would be declared in 1921, declaring independence from the Federation in their War of Liberation, a violent class struggle that it won with the help of the USSR, maintaining its independence. After the Second Great War, the PRN would become a Soviet client state, and would join the Warsaw Pact with its formation. With the collapse of the USSR and the WP, its dictator, Premier Oleksiy, cracked down on freedoms, entrenched his power, and turned to communism with a near radical religious zealotry instead of opening his nation up and freeing it from the evils of Socialism. After multiple incidents across the border, the Federation is finally ready to invade Novia in Operation *KKT Winter 2019* with the goal of liberating the people from their fanatic dictator and the failed communist system, establishing control over the major urban areas and important infrastructure, and winning the hearts and minds of locals. Resistance is expected to be high, with the fanatical Red Guard, the high availability of weapons and ammunition, and the indoctrination of the local population. Irregular forces are expected to engage in acts of sabotage, terrorism, and active resistance behind friendly lines."
