This is a part of my worklist if you are interested in looking at the other warships I am going to draw.


Anyway, here is the second French ship-of-the-line I have completed from my list:

The Sans Pareil (of 1757-60)

The Sans Pareil was repeatedly proposed to King Louis XV on numerous occasions between 1757 and 1760. Sadly the vessel was never set to be built due to how expensive it would have been. The name Sans Pareil means (Peerless) although the king didn't like the name too much and would suggest the ship to be named the Océan (Ocean). After some time, the only ship to be built from this class was the Royal Louis, which I have already drawn, and you can check out how similar they both are here.
