FIELD ARTILLERY BATTALIONS (Infantry Division)
There is four Field Artillery Battalions in infantry division artillery,
- three equipped with 105mm howitzers and attached to an infantry regiment,
- one equipped with 155mm howitzers under direct control of division commander.
The artillery headquarter and headquarter batteries, field artillery battalion, was similar to each other in there general duties.
It included:
- Battalion Headquarter
- Battery Headquarter
- Operation Platoon
- Communication Platoon
- Personnel Section
- Maintenance section
The most important differences concerned the liaison units:
The field artillery battalion HQ 105mm, in direct support of infantry regiments, possessed 3 liaisons sections, and a forward observer assigned to each batteries.
The field artillery battalion HQ 155mm possessed a single forward observer and no liaison sections because these did not have the same mission
