I know I'm very new here, but I find I have to comment on your back story.

Ok... For a start, the Russian military would be pretty much the last thing they would scrap. Hell, even after the fall of the Sov U, it was still well manned (the army and air force at least).
Same goes for the US. Cut backs, yes, halving their strength? no.
Why would Russia invade China :? seriously, there is basically no reason for it too happen.
Also, lets say the US halves it's Navy before it attacks Utopia. That's 30 destroyers, 10 cruisers, 5 Carriers and nearly 40 submarines... Can you equal this? How?

ETA:
I'm not guessing at Russian strength, but the French have a carrier, 24 frigates, 10 subs, as well as various amphibious and auxiliary ships... That's a big combined fleet.
Also, what is the Royal Navy doing during this? Considering the damn stupid 'special relationship' I don't doubt that they would join in with the US...

first of all, I have to say, that I agree that this background story isn't all that realistic. it was created for an book I'm writing, which needs an new world order were you would have large scale aerial and sea battles with modern equipment. I needed a war that was more like WW3 then the 'interventions' of these days.

and for your question on strength: the answer is allies. the US can not use their full strenght (nukes, for instance) without more or less declaring war to most of the neutral country's. same counts for russia. also not that realistic, but if this circumstance would come up..... well it makes a lot more sense then.

That's fair enough, but the US doesn't just rely on nuclear weapons, they have a very large conventional force as well. Their full strength is their conventional forces, Nukes are a deterrent.

What allies? You have listed them as going to war with the biggest powers in the world. Hell, you even have the Russians as stronger than in the OTL...

true. that's why I had to fit in an economical crisis and an different cold war ending to even it more up.... and to show even why utopia even existed.
utopia's allies: strong allies are China and The Netherlands.
other allies (we help if they get near us) are Japan, south korea, cuba, germany, belgium, GB..... heck most of the NATO is at utopia's side after france and the USA leave it. quite a few arabic country's and even african and former russion states joined, but the fighting never get's near them, so they don't help that much ;)

how this is possible? because utopia didn't started the fight, they only started an alliance to unite the entire world to some 'united states of earth'. the fact that they had to defend themselves because they did that, was not an thought at first. but this alliance was followed by many nations that could not make a point themselves, but toghether they still are quite powerfull. the fact that utopia had (in an war for their own existance) had designed some quite powerfull weapon systems, made that they could supply weaker armed country's with those.
btw, the fact that those country's are the biggest powers in the world, was exactly the reason why they wouldn't join that alliance and even began to fight it.

Ok, I see the logic, but there is one problem.
You cannot say this is realistic. Really, its a great AU, i'm curious about it, but don't say it could happen, because.. no, not really.

Same thing happened with mine, just pre WW2, and I have to essentially label it as fantasy, because it's just too unrealistic.

and that was exactly which I already said in my first reply on you ;) I agree, it isn't realistic. it could happen, IF some things would change like I described. but they haven't, they never will, and they could never have happened. as said:
