Excellent work! It is very interesting the inside view of the bathyscaphe (almost every part had a pressure hull). May I ask if you know the purpose of the retractable "tower"? Once again, excellent drawing. Cheers and thanks !
I'm just afraid you don't realize how hard it is to find a detailed cutaway to follow (which wouldn't only show "here's the engine room, here's the bridge..." but would actually show what is in there) - and what pain it is to draw it.
Hi, Eswube. Yes I read that the tower is for drilling, but I really don´t understand how it works. So, if you can give me some light, I will be very gratefull (you know, I also earn my living drilling holes !). Cheers.
@Reytuerto
Tower wasn't doing any drilling itself (and the drill is not included on the picture - found no drawings of it). Basically, the drilling was just one of the tasks (albeit one of more important) for which this boat was made, so the drill would be installed only if necessary (a matter of several hours, I believe). Telescopic tower simply allowed more space (and longer drill of simpler design, than it would have to be if fitted in "basic" size) - but at the cost of less stability on surface and higher drag underwater (which while performing other tasks could be avoided by having tower retracted).
