The years following WW2 were years of large expansion of shipping, the need to replace lost ships, and those who had seen arduous war service. The Norwegian merchant marine was being rebuilt both by new builds at home and abroad, and by getting surplus American and British wartime built ships.
In 1950 the Kong Ring was built, at Moss and was used for 17 years before being sold to foreign flag.
