So after falling in love with the SS Normandie and a couple of years of stalking great work here on Shipbucket (in particular the ocean liner challenge), I decided to get back into it by designing my first ocean liner/cruise ship. The lore, if you will, that I had in mind for this ship is that the Soviet Union decided to counter Cunard's QE2 with a ship of their own by drawing inspiration from what can easily be described the most beautiful ship in the world, the SS Normandie.

While theres not much taken from Cunardfans QE2 and Navarchos, ALVAMA and Charybdis' Normandie; I think their work its visible enough in this design to credit here: Bow, stern gallery and azipod come straight from the Normandie, albeit with certain modifications; while the bridge and lower half of main mast come from the QE2. The rest, while resembling the QE2, like the stack, are scratch made by myself. Mind you, the glass section under the stack is a place holder for a soviet themed vidriera ive still got to get around doing :D

The reason im posting it incomplete is because i cant seem to figure out what i want the section aft of the stack to look like; so heres me hoping some of you may be kind enough to share some ideas! Also, i dont exactly know if I have to credit in the drawing the creators from whom ive sourced parts. It would be good to know before I post the final version :?

Very nice work! Only thing I would change would be perhaps to enclose the bottom of that glass promenade. While it might look nice, it would be a hazard in heavy seas.

No problem...if you need a name for her, might I suggest Aurora? Named for the armored cruiser where the Revolution first began.

Before anything else...... According to the shipbucket rules, credits go on the image.

I know credits go on the image, but since its still a WiP, I didnt think I needed to. The final image will have all the proper credits.

Best way to not forget someone is to add credits as you add stuff by someone else. When you post online something of which even parts look finished, it should be credited. This meets that requirement, many parts could be 'saved' by someone and used elsewhere without credit as there was none on the credits on the image.

The bridge looks to old and out of style - reminds to much about the old QE2

Nice work.

All drawings posted here (regardless of whether they are finished or not) must be credited.
