4,500 tons of swedish steel

coast guard version is Revenue Cutter, Large (RCL [SIK]) and navy version is Destroyer Escort, Large (DEL [SEJ])

consideration for a special minehunting version was ICly debated until OOCly i decided that the hull was big enough to carry all of the potential LCS modules + more since a pair of Fire Scouts/Eagle Eyes can fit inside a single hangar bay lengthwise; which kinda negated the need for splitting the ship into a GP destroyer/frigate and a super mine killer because i relocated the Mk 141s from the fantail to amidships

coastie has jayhawk but the jayhawk is militarized i.e. armored cockpit and engines so it can get close to smuggler ships and angry fishing boats without being totally killed by machine guns and can mount archerfish/mk46/sonobuoy/ALMDS/25mm for destruction of sea mines and submarines in wartime and smuggler ships and narcosubs in peacetime

military mission is ocean escort of convoys and destruction of submarines in the littorals with aviation; latter can be done without change and the former with bolting of Mk 48 VLS in the void area atop the hangar (there is an empty space that can be reclaimed for Mk 48 VLS; this space is occupied by additional turbine engine exhaust in the military version and the VLS is moved amidships aft the Mk 141s) for zone air defense using ESSM Mk 2 and additional Mk 49 GMLS above the hangar (if available) for close in defense

the coastie and naval frigate version both have towed VDS and TB-14 decoy dispensers but the Navy version also has a full mine hunting kit with the ability to employ UUVs i.e. Knifefish and TB-26/27 (the Coast Guard version can only use orange USVs that can fire torpedoes or tow magnetic/acoustic sleds and HF VDS); coastie usv can also pull an SSS for finding crashed airliners that Air Defense Command have shot down this week

crew for navy bote is ~175 and crew for coastie bote is ~150; navy has accommodation for 200 and coastie has accommodation for 300

armament is typically 16x Harpoon with 8 in the matchbox magazine and 8 in the Mk 141s, 16x VLA-ER, 12x Mk 46 LWT (3x per launch tube, manually reloaded in a semi-automatic launcher), 8x Nulka decoy, 36x 130mm SRBOC launchers, 2x ASW 601 grenade launchers (18 rounds ea.); 32x ESSM; 1x H-3 or H-60 and 2x HV-918 helicopters or 2x H-3/H-60; a 25mm CIWS for destruction of small craft where the deck gun is impractical (read: pierside); 42x RIM-116 (no reloads are carried); and a 3" automatic (it's the Mark 26 with a single gun mounting similar to Mark 36, not the Italian 3"/62) automatic cannon for destroying narcosubs/warding off refugee ships/stopping human traffickers or whatever

the H-60s can carry ESSS stub wings (these are stored in the void where the military version has the exhaust; but provision exists for storing them within the hangar roof scaffolding, a holdover from the Navy requirement for carrying one strike/supply and one asw/miw medium helicopter each) and 16x Hellfire missiles for small ship destruction and policing at standoff range for the Coasties; the H-3s can carry sonobuoys and LWTs though for long loiter time and destruction of SS; both can perform identical MIW missions, although the H-3 has greater range its slower speed results in a similar search profile

coastie version cna carry coast guard commandos for raiding and special operations for HM Treasury

both versions have identical ESM/ECM equipment but hte Navy version has a vastly more capable air warfare suite and undersea combat equipment; such as the aforementioned automatic torpedo launchers (on the coast guard version, these launchers are essentially Mk 32 Mod 11s mounted internally, and intended to stop terror ships and people who dont respond to 3" shots off the bow)

debating whether or not to replace the 3" with a 2.25"/57mm Mk 110 on the coastie version; fisheries protection doesnt really demand a 3" gun normally and between the Harpoons and Mk 46 bulk HE warhead torpedoes the surface warfare capability is probably pretty OK

e: now in disgusting haze gray because hue doesnt matter

e2: https://www.dropbox.com/s/7hsrhooe6vec7 ... .txt?raw=1

the map may end up being different if i add an explicit DD/DE distinction

next will be a "raider cruiser" which is basically a sandbar/airbase deleter and hostage rescue ship

it has a big aviation hangar, HLCACs, Aegis, and is built on basically a stretched San Antonio hull

him tracks krooz missil, ballistic rv, and hypergliders for national defense

the upper fairing houses a WFOV acquisition sensor that can look to the sides, upwards, and immediately forwards to acquire massive IR signatures of reentry vehicles and hypergliders in the troposphere

the turrets fore and aft are laser radars for passive tracking of hypergliders and other high energy targets as cued by the WFOV FLIR

its primary job is to fly racetracks off the coast and look out for missile launches and hypergliders that can be engaged by high energy anti ballistic missiles

Really nice job here ! It is nice to see an alternative of SB drawings who look often more realistic than the black lines for cutting the end of the objects ... :)

wip hyper modern 2020s supercarrier

planned air wing:

24x Saab "Secretary" VAL (the blue triangle thing)
24x Gronman "Bobcat" VF (dumb triangle vought NATF)
12x Gronman "Invader" VAM (grumman chibi!b-2)

--These are all the same airframe--
8x FW ASW
4x AEW
4x ESM/Jammer
4x Tanker

6x H-60s

in case i ever lineart all dumblan carriers:

Trashy conversion al a Ranger or Ark Royal ('10s) --> ~4 Lexington-style cruiser hull conversions (late '20s) --> ~6 Yorktowns (early '30s) --> ~16 Essexes (late '30s) --> some CVLs (early '40s) --> singular straight deck Midway ('40s) --> 2-3 angled deck Midways ('40s through early '50s) --> a single Forrestal + 5 Kitty Hawks (early '50s through '60s) --> 10 nuclear Kitties ('70s) --> 8-10 These things ('90s) --> the ultimate warship (second '50s)

throw in canceled and scrapped hulls and it adds up to 69 :shrug:

the short guy standing under the fighter jet is a 14 year old child also because galla retains the Boy Apprentice rate in the 21st century

child labor = fertility rate~

rationalized the armament and screw number (single screw instead of NSC's two screws)

sensors are different because Mk 23 TAS is the only radar i believe in

armament is now ~32x ESSM; 8x RGM-84; 16x ASROC; 22x RIM-116 in SeaRAMs; 8x Nulka decoys; 36x SRBOC tubes; a single 3"/62 automatic; 2x H-60 or H-3; and 4x Mk 54 LWT in torpedo tubes

so the mk 41 is half empty most of the time, i guess

power is 2x LM2500 with 40,000 shp on a single screw and two GT generators

so, like a slightly quieter FFG-7 setup with a good VDS

him DEG and he hunt SSN in HUKs with Izumos and a cut-down DE al a Abukuma

abukuma expy might eschew a big boi VDS in favor of boats and drone capacity so instead it has a tiny thing...i guess

lcs idea is shelved i guess

DD go:
Forrest Sherman/Charles F Adams --> Spruance --> Some Spruance-esque thing w/o Aegis or maybe Akizuki

DLG go:
Farragut --> Leahy/Belknap --> Tico --> Big!Burke (big like Kongo) with liquor cabinet and maybe an additional illuminator in lieu of the deckhouse Phalanx

DEG cycle go:
Sumner FRAM --> Knox expy --> FFG-7 expy --> This thing

DE cycle go:
Dealey/Claude --> Bronstein/Brooke --> Abukuma expy --> A smol boi

CVS go:
Essex --> VSS/PdA --> Izumo

HUK is generally a CVS + 1-2 DD/DDG + 3-9 escorts split 1:3 or 1:2 between DEG/DE and a TAGOS otherwise it's operating close to a SOSUS line

economic convoys are escorted by DDH/CVE (Hyuga in XXI/SCS in '70s) + 1-2 DD/DDG + 4-6 DE and a couple DEGs
