Now that you've changed the colours, there's a lot of tidying up to do, railings, anchor etc...

I'm still not sold on the prop shafts. Here's the builders plans of Midway in '87. I find it hard to believe they would have changed the prop set up in the SCB upgrades, but who knows? What source do you have for this?

Also the figure for the depth of the flight deck is given in Friedman's US Carriers and the builder's plans as 84' and this drawing is at 88'. Again, I don't think this would have changed from the original design.

Sorry to nitpick but carriers are a real swine to draw. The devil is in the detail! The WASP took me years and I'm still finding faults in it.

I am working on it adjusting the color essentially to the right tone. ;)

I talked a lot with a guy at modelwarships.com and he said to me that the blueprints you have here is wrong about the propeller area (at least for the original config). So I traced it from this blueprint.

You are talking about top of deck to waterline ?

It's okay I did what I can with the sources I ve got but I was in need of comments... And just for saying I am on the Nimitz drawing since 2008 so I know the need for nitpicking haha :D

Some years ago, I toured Midway in San Diego and noted with some surprise that according to signage aboard, at least one of the 1980s refits did alter some underwater features aft. I don't remember further details, and some quick googling was unproductive, so consider this highly speculative until backed up with something more concrete.

I'll check my archives this evening and see if I can turn up anything more.

Paul - I agree w Charybdis on the hull plans. The drawings you got from DavidP are not actual USN plans but rather model builder plans issued in the 1950s and 1960s (they are not very detailed). The plans Charybdis linked look like booklets of general plans, which were drawn by the building yards and modified as each refit occurred. I would trust these plans to show the shape of the hull more than the commercial plans you received. I agree that this area of the ship would not change much during the ship's life.

Of course, if someone can provide reasoning why the BOGP is not the most accurate I would love to hear it - or photos of the propeller shafts and rudders would also work ;)

This drydock picture of Midway in 1977 does match the shaft arrangement seen in Charybdis BOGP
https://www.stripes.com/news/readying-t ... 86#gallery
(if redirected, go to gallery by scrolling down a bit in the article)

this 1985 picture from the national archives show the arrangement even better:

also:
https://cdn10.picryl.com/photo/1985/05/ ... 8-1024.jpg

and finally:
http://www.navsource.org/archives/02/024140.jpg
This one is from Navsource, taken while drydocked at Hunters Point NSY in 1962. Inner propellers have diagonal supporting struts and the two skegs begin further back, matching the 1970/1980s layout.

Also, tecnically not Midway herself, but this is FDR in 1969:
http://www.navsource.org/archives/02/0242ana.jpg
same prop layout.

It all seems to validate Charybdis source over the modelwarships one regarding the propellers layout.

I concur with others critics about aft stern-underwater details
