This ship is HMS Starling, which became the most successful anti-submarine vessel in the Royal Navy, being credited with the destruction of 14 U-boats. She was a Modified Black Swan, of wartime design. She is depicted here as of 1943.

More Black Swans follow if time allows.

I think the bottom of the 'g' in 'Vestergaard' got left behind in the middle of the image, but other than that, it's gorgeous. More Black Swans would not be a bad thing.

Great addition to the archive, James. It is about time these iconic ships to make their appearance here.
Good job, and hope to see more sloops, both the Black Swan and others

Fantastic! Excellent drawing, superb and impressive details! Very, but really very wonderful work!

The sad side: The Black Swan sloop was my candidate for the real life challenge! (at least, it was well resized!).

Many thanks for the kind words guys.

Miklania,
Good spot! I've now fixed that.

Gollevainen,
The Egret class has been drawn but none of the other pre-war sloops, nor the earlier Black Swans. I was amazed that the Black Swans haven't been done before.

reytuerto,
Sorry about that, but I was racking my brains trying to find something good to draw that I could complete in time.
I'm sure you will come up with something equally good for the challenge.

Portsmouth Bill did some of the Aussie Grimsby class sloops.
