Yūgumo class destroyers

[ img ]

The Yūgumos were the final class of standard Japanese destroyers and were mostly a repeat of the previous Kagero class with the most notable difference being the more aerodynamic forward superstructure. The class would be built from 1940 to 1944 with a total of 19 members, none of which would survive World War 2.

Vessels refitted and constructed from 1943 would receive a second and third set of 25mm AA guns around the forward torpedo mount and in front of the bridge. Additionally the forward mast would be modified to carry the Type 22 surface search radar. Some vessels were also given the Type 13 air search radar set.

Asashimo was the last Yugumo to be sunk, during Operation Ten-Go on 7 April 1945.

Very well done and am absolutely amazed by the speed with which you completed these.
Please consider doing a top view of at least one, and depicting Naganami and Hamanami at some point.
