The 17 cm Kanone was mainly used in single Batteries for heaviest flat fire (schwerstes Flachfeuer).
His big brother, the 21 cm Mörser 18, was used in battalions of 9 pieces for concentrated fire (Schwerpunktbildung) against fortifications.
