Hi there.
I am new to this excellent site, found it on a search looking for information on the motor ship Jutlandia ( 1934).
I have seen some photos out there which makes me think she was constructed with an icebreaker bow?
Can anyone confirm that ?
Also, if anyone has any anecdotal information or good photos about this famous ship, I should be delighted to hear from them.
Any help would be be much appreciated, as I hope to write an article on the vessel shortly.
best regards,

John Martin ( retired British Master)

Are we talking about the Danish cargo ship that was converted to a hospital ship for the Korean war?
It was fitted with a Maier bow. It looks like a IB bow, but it has none of the reinforcement.
If you come across any linedrawings, I'd be happy to do it in SB scale. The Jutlandia has a rather special place in Danish history.

Thanks for that.
Yes, that was the ship.
As you say, she did have a very interesting life, and it is partly that which I find so interesting.
The shape of the bow intrigued me, as I knew she was built for the Asia trade ( Dutch East Asiatic Company as it was then. But that explains it, looks like one, but isnt !
Kind regards to all,

John Martin

It most certainly wasn't.
Jutlandia was operated by the ØK/EAC
