After the Second World War, West Germany (in this universe) was allowed to continue producing military aircraft, but only by one company that must be operated by the government. This company was to be known as the Deutsche Flugzeugfirma. After a few failed designs that were never produced, the company produced the DF-04 which was quickly adopted by the West German military (Both the Luftwaffe and Marine) as well as a few other nations.

RAF: The RAF bought one squadron of aircraft (20) in 1949 to be operated by the No. 603 Squadron. They were sold to the Indian Air Force in 1953.

Third Reich Luftwaffe: This one is just for a friend and doesn't fit with the lore/alt history of the other operators.

West German Navy: The Bundeswehr Marine operated 4 squadrons of DF-04s from 1949 to 1954.

West German Air Force: The Bundeswehr Luftwaffe was the largest operator of the DF-04, operating 7 squadrons.

Indian Air Force: The Indian Air Force operated the 20 aircraft sold to them by the British until 1961, under the command of No. 47 Squadron.

In 1954, all but two German aircraft were retired and converted into remotely controlled target drones, a configuration in which they would remain until the last aircraft was destroyed in 1966. The remaining two were placed in museums. The main drawback of the DF-04 was it's small armament (it was not capable of underwing stores) and it's poor high-speed maneuverability.

New crazy project. So the 777-9x prototype is inching closer to the end of the production line, and I decided to make an airbus that would be able to directly compete with the 777-10x (larger brother of the 9x). This is the Airbus A350-2000 MAX concept. It uses the wings and landing gear of an aircraft by Gelo10102; and the A350 fuselage and tail by Wikipedia and Universe, and BB1987. Takeoff rotation of this massive bird irl would most likely not exceed 5º-10º.

Having got Chris Gibson's On Atlas's Shoulders book for my birthday (it pays to have a girlfriend that shops mainly from your Amazon wishlist), it inspired me to come back to this idea for a Vickers/BAC alternative to the Belfast:



The Winchester would have been similar to the 'semi-widebody' concept of a VC10 freighter Vickers were working on, where the forward fuselage was bulged to widebody dimensions while the rear half was still narrow. In this version the fuselage is roughly the same length as the Super VC10 but the wider body now extends as far as the engines. Essentially similar to a widebody C-141, she'd be capable of carrying a single Conqueror ARV or the equivalent weight in palleted freight. Other additions from Eswube's VC10 variations include wingtip tanks and wing root extensions for more fuel.

Looks a nice concept. Given the sheer number of VC-10 projects, I'm surprised Vickers/BAC Weybridge didn't come up with something similar!
