Built in 1919 for Glen Line, the following ship was one of the first motor ships built in Great Britain. This ship was built by Harland & Wolff, who had at this time the only licence for making the Burmeister & Wain motor engines. The shipyard was at the time owned by the Pirrie Kylsant empire which also owned several well known British comapanies, amongst them being White Star, Royal Mail and Pacific Steam Navigation. In order to test how the motor ships were, several motor ships were built for the various companies of the empire.
The following ship was built for Glen line and in 1924 was transferred to the Pacific Steam Navigation as Loreto
