I think it should be retained. Due to the optical illusion about colors appearing darker when bordering darker colors, it makes it more pronounced, and it is easier in drawing to add or delete an underwater hull for whatever reason. For example, you decide to give your destroyer an underwater hull quickly, or make it deeper to reduce top-heaviness. Or you may want to delete it if you want to see what it looks like without one. Also at 1x magnification you can barely even see the black line distinctly.

Ok, so after reading all responses and looking the voting score, it appears that Traditions win, we should retain the black waterline mark in our drawings.
The most "weighted" opinions were (for a bit of a suprise to me) supporting this stand, and the best logic and reasoning seems to be the showing of the waterline's actuall position in the drawings.

Therefore, I will no continue pursuing changing the rules, so you can keep drawing (and submitting drawings) as you have done before.

As an experiment for more public partisipation to the standards, this has proven out to be a good one.
