from this, I guess you are dutch? walking by the 'sailing ship club' btw....
you have done a very good job, but I'd like to see a bit of 'shape' on the sails, by shading it a little.... also, on a ship like this, with not that many moving lines in the rigging, I would like to see the main rigging of the mast drawn (it is visible on your picture)

Nah I'm British mate, I just like Dutch boats, more to come I reckon. I will do more shading and detail on the sails....

sails look good to me (although one shade is enough IMO, I don't know the reactions of the others on that) btw, you get what I mean with the standing rigging?

I meant these.... also, are you sure the bowsprit and the deckhouse are correct? they look different on you picture, or were those later modifications?
for the deckhouse, I still think you should make some fixes.... because the one you have currently drawn makes it impossible to get inside the ship. my last comment is that barge is possibly not the good name, I would love to see if you could find the actual shiptype..... I have no knowledge about the english names of them, and even in dutch my knowledge isn't that great that I can recognise it, but I still think that 'barge' doesn't sounds right for this goodlooking ship.

The reason why traditional canvas sails are two tone, is because of the way they're made.
They are made up of app. 4ft wide strips of canvas sewn together. The two tones comes from the fact that the weaves were inverted, causing them to bleach differently.

Oh, I see. Yes I'l try and get them in. Yes the structure of the boat in the photo was modified in the 1970's, I attempted an original deckhouse design from old photos. And yes, I think it should have a wheelhouse...

Yea, Tjalk is the proper name for the hull type at least. I think calling it a barge isn't accurate, but thats what they call them over here!
