My take on the APAR Block 2:

This is a rough sketch of APAR Block 2 based on the picture in my previous post, assuming that the radar below it is a fixed 4-face version of the NS200.

I have never been terribly satisfied with the drawing of the Variant radar -- indeed, so much so that it has kept me from using it in some personal designs :P

I believe this is a much more accurate rendition. Size data is straight from Thales (PDF warning)

I am so sorry for that one ( i made it a loooong way back).

And for Acelanceloet.
Your images from Dropbox are all gone.

The most recent parts sheet can be found at http://www.old.shipbucket.com/images.ph ... s%20Sheets

I will replace the link in the first post here when the sheet is updated.

I have been browsing around and got quite confused about the time these systems entered service

Is it correct to broadly categorize them like this?

1960s = DA-02, LW-01, LW-02/03, ZW-01/03/04, M44/45
1970s = DA-05, ZW-06, WM20s, STIR 1.8, LIOD, TDS
1980s = DA-08, LW-08, STIR 2.4, LIROD
1990s = Smart-S, MW08
2000s = APAR, Smart-S Mk2, Smart-L

By the way, what are the differences between LW-02 and 03, as well as ZW-01, 03, and 04? Do they just have incremental electronics improvements, or are there application differences similar to LW-01 (big antenna for big ships) vs LW-02 (smaller antenna for smaller ships), or to all the different WM20s that are used for different fire controls?

Some of your questions are best answered by browsing the parts wiki that has replaced (and now hosts) this sheet. Haven't created pages for all these parts (that's the issue when doing that work alone) but for the ones that are there, this information should be there.

http://67.205.157.234/wiki/index.php/Ca ... components

That said, your broad categorisiation looks correct, not entirely certain when LIROD and LIOD entered service and the STIR 1.8 might just be early 1980's.

The WM versions are indeed versions that work with different systems or have other modifications over the years. 99% of these changes are invisible from the outside of the ships.
