Fantastic stuff Novice! I have a huge picture of the ship as built on a calendar somewhere. Note that her original name was KAISER FRANZ JOSEF I, not JOSEPH.

Note she was renamed MARCO POLO while still in Lloyd Triestino service. Only in 1937 was she transferred to Adriatica

In LT colours in 1936 as MARCO POLO: http://www.naviearmatori.net/eng/foto-2 ... 9MA==.html

Note her funnels had a bit of a different, more "flattened" shape at this stage.

Here she is seen in her final years with Adriatica (1937-44): http://www.naviearmatori.net/eng/foto-5 ... 9MA==.html

I think it is correct only when she was under the Austro-Hungarian Empire flag. All Italian sources I checked referred to the ship as Kaiser Franz Joseph I.
I'll amend the name on the ship as above, ASAP
Thank you for the input for the name changes of the Marco Polo
The drawing of the Kaiser Franz Josef I as been edited to the name Kaiser Franz Josef I .
