Sure - I mean, unfortunately we will likely never know FOR SURE what the underwater hull looked like except via plans like that (or by ordering microfilm from NARA and examining it, but a lot of times the originals are long gone). We can usually get a "close enough" estimate that looks good and makes sense based on what we know to be true - in this case, I doubt the hull openings changed much as time went on (though I could be wrong) - and the sea chests were probably identical on Portland and Indianapolis. Until we find evidence that suggests otherwise, we're fairly good to just "assume"... but this comes with the territory. ;)
It is true but I would rather follow your advice.

I just checked the Friedman's and Baker's book.
They look really good books.
I appreciated for sharing this source to me.

Final update.

Thank you members for the helpful information.

Nice work - looking forward to the New Orleans class. ;)

I just learned that USS PORTLAND in November did have an SG radar in November.
Possibly installed at Pearl Harbor with the USS ENTERPRISE around September just after the Battle of Eastern Solomons in late August.

According to her War Diary of November, SG radar is briefly stated on the PORTLAND:

So I decided to once again revise this ship.
Hopefully the last time unless more mysterious object appears.

I posted two different dates for the PORTLAND.
There are small difference between them but I just drew them anyways.

Very nice work!

A couple of minor points; I feel that some of the weld lines on the superstructure are a little too prominent. The 1.1" quads seem to be painted in a different measure and the railings are non SB standard. Finally, maybe the degaussing cable needs a shade underneath. :-)

After Spike pointed out a discrepancy in length, I went back and rechecked these drawings and discovered that my versions of Indianapolis and Portland are out of scale. I originally measured the waterline length of Indianapolis, and then scaled the overall length of my sample plans to that waterline length. Needless to say this is an extremely frustrating and embarrassing error to make, and all of my versions will need to be redrawn. Apollo ER's versions are correctly scaled.

Just another example of the absolute need to check and recheck your work while drawing. ;)
