I guess I'm on a "famous ship" kick.

This is SAMUEL B. ROBERTS (DE-413) as the ship appeared during the legendary action off Samar on October 25th, 1944. The ship is camouflaged in Measure 32/22D.

SAMUEL B. ROBERTS engaged the Japanese Center Force while laying smoke for the escort carriers of "Taffy 3", in concert with the FLETCHER class destroyers HEERMANN (DD-532), HOEL (DD-533), and JOHNSTON (DD-557). SAMUEL B. ROBERTS scored a torpedo hit on the Japanese cruiser CHOKAI, before being hit by a 14" shell from KONGO. The ship sank with 90 sailors killed in action.

"The destroyer escort that fought like a battleship". That's what you call an heroic action.

One question, do you know if the Butlers had their electronics (radar and antennas) modified or upgraded in 1945/49?

Thanks guys. :)

Re: upgrading of the electronics fit late into the war, I have some photos of a few units of the other DE classes in 1945 with some pretty basic electronics upgrades, but nothing too major. Probably the most interesting refits are the post-war radar picket conversions (DER), but as usual I don't have those in my sights. ;) I may do a few more of the wartime ships (probably to illustrate different radar fits or camouflage variations) but I have no plans beyond that for this class.

Will you be doing the preceding Rudderow-class as well?

I currently have no plans for any other DE classes. Those have been covered quite nicely by wb21 & WhyMe in this thread.
