CSA
CSA, Ironclad Ram CSS Richmond (1862)
CSA, Ironclad Ram CSS Louisiana (1862)
Louisiana never had a chance to have it's armor installed. I wanted try for newer, fresh cut timbers in MS Paint.
CSA, Ironclad Ram CSS Mississippi (1862)
Like the Louisiana, Mississippi was needed before the armor was installed so, more playing with wood colors in MS Paint. The hull was slab sided so it gets to look odd.
CSA, Ironclad Ram CSS Atlanta (1862)
CSA, Ironclad Ram CSS North Carolina (1863)
CSA, Ironclad Ram CSS Raleigh (1864)
Did some experimentation with imitating "Rust" on this one. The eyewitness descriptions indicated it was orange from new rust.
CSA, Ironclad Ram CSS Virginia 2 (1864)
More CSA Ironclad Rams in the works!
USN
A couple more gunboats!
USA, USS Saginaw (1859)
Built at Mare Island Naval Ship Yard (San Francisco Bay, California), it was the first warship constucted on the West Coast. Built to go after piratical types in Asia and protect US shipping interests in the orient's rivers and shallow areas. It was also one of the last paddle-wheel warships built by the USN.
USA, USS Unadilla Class (1861)
This is the "90-Day Gunboa"t Class built at the start of the American Civil War. The USN needed ships FAST. 23 were built...that number was determined by all the available shipway building spaces available when the contract and Congressional Appropriation was let out. Most took over 90-days to build but it sounded cool. These things were used in pretty much every action and most were sold off at the end of the war.
Enjoy! More Civil War stuff in the works.
