Thirdly: the Germans never spelled SMS von der Tann with a capital 'V'. That it was so is a wide-spread misconception, but since the name is from a 19th c. cavalry general, that last (family-) name has in a literal sense been carried over; hence the lower case 'v'.
One can argue, but I don't want to do it. Different sources have different writing.
