-Greetings to everyone, hope you are having a good day (or whatever timezone you are in.) What I would like to present today is a cooperative AU put together by Myself, Keisser, TristanAlting, and a few others whose names escape me. We will be sharing a map developed on our discord server, we will interact with each other's nations and maybe even engage in a naval race or two. Different people will upload content for their respective nations, including ships, aircraft, and maybe army equipment. Since we will be starting in 1930, naval treaties will be included. The Antaran Office of Naval Intelligence has approved for the immediate construction of a brand new and modern series of light cruisers officially named the 'Danica' class. Although Antara has no issue with displaying it's industrial and technological might, many other countries are taking notice of the country's incredibly cramped shipyards. Further reports claim a total of 9 ships were to begin construction in four different shipyards, though the actual number of ships to be produced is awaiting announcement.

This comes the same day the Antaran Prime Minister also announced it's partnership with the States of California, which will be providing the Antara with large stocks of crude oil, undoubtedly for the country's rapidly growing fleet.

I'm 100% aware that the map is fictitious with reference to some modern and old countries, however, Namaqualand should be more towards the west coast (ie, where southern Namibia and western South Africa would be). Just my two cents. Regardless, this looks very interesting.

9th of November 1930

The Foestranan Government has decided to build 5 Torpedo Destroyer Vessels, these vessels are multi-role hence the Name. As well as a mass recruitment of Soldiers has begun within Foestrana to the maximum of 100k Soldiers. All of the vessels under construction are expected to be finished at the end of next month. In other news the Foestranan Emperor Wilhelm has gone on a ride along Kaiser street in Koserberg.

14 November, 1930; The Tsingtao incident for Talia.
-In 1930, the Chinese civil war was already several years ongoing. Nestled in their base in Tsingtao, the Talian armed forces were watching the conflict with growing worry. Communist troops were fighting just outside the city, and they had made it clear that the Talians were not welcome. The garrison in Tsingtao consisted of just 600 men, armed mostly with reserve rifles and few heavy weapons. Of the heavy weapons they did have, there were 6 x 65-millimeter light field guns, and 12 heavy and 85 light machine guns. The engineer detachment in Tsingtao had made herculean efforts to fortify the city, reinforcing walls, digging ditches, and building barbed-wire barricades. There was a small airstrip in the city for operating 12 x light utility planes armed with small machine guns and light bombs. The purpose of these planes was to watch for alarming enemy movements, of which there were plenty. Naval forces in the area included 2 x patrol gunboats, 4 x destroyers, 2 x colonial avisos, a pair of submarines, and a supply group of 3 ships. All these forces were modern and well-trained, but compared to the nearly 2 and a half thousand communists outside the walls they seemed somewhat diminutive. Talian propaganda vilified the Chinese and their communist party, and used the surge of positive public opinion to enlarge the force in China. The authorized strength rose to 900 men, including 80 MVSN troops, who bring with them several heavy field guns (75-mm, 100-mm) and dozens of machine guns, mortars, and flamethrowers. Though the communists were supplied with ammunition and rifles from nearby leftist nations like the Marxist Commonwealth, they were ill-trained and not well equipped for attacking fortified positions. The Talians boasted that Tsingtao was impregnable, and the communists wouldn't launch an attack. They were wrong. On the 15 of November, the Communist forces launched a frontal assault on the city. Up to 600 men took part in the initial charge, but their lack of training and good equipment meant that they took heavy casualties before they even reached the initial lines of defense. The Chinese concentrated their attack on the left side of the city, but where repelled by heavy machine gun fire, flamethrowers, and determined resistance from the defenders. The Chinese assault was repelled by a determined Talian counter attack that left 24 dead and 48 wounded. The next day the Chinese launched an assault on the city's right flank, which was defended by 2 rifle battalions and a machine gun battalion with 12 heavy and over 125 light machine guns, 12 mortars, and a pair of 65-mm field guns. These troops were defending along a line of trenches supported by mine fields and barbed wire, and they were well dug-in. Despite running low on ammunition, it was estimated that there were enough supplies to last them for up to 8 hours. They resist two determined attempts by Chinese forces (supported by artillery) to breach their lines, and manage to win the day. The Talian army has been victorious, but at a cost. They have lost 16 dead and 38 wounded, as opposed to the Chinese 48 dead and 105 wounded. The Talians were aware that hey would not be able to hold out for another determined assault, and that the communists had probed the lines enough to know the weak points in the defenses. Thus said, the Talians signed a peace agreement with the Chinese communists not to intervene in the war and not to bother them whatsoever in exchange for recognition of the claim over Tsingtao. They reluctantly agreed, albeit under threat of trade sanctions and blockade. Peace was made, and Talia started a new program to build up it's strength across the Empire. This includes spending billions in repairing and expanding bases, building new fortifications, and developing weapons and equipment.

In other news, the navy has announced it's program to expand itself in order to keep up with other naval powers. The program is slated to kick off in 2-3 months, and will probably see the modernization of the old Great War-era dreadnoughts, as well as orders for other ships crucial to the Empire. Glory to the Empire! Viva l'Impero!

November 19 1930.New Amsterdam, Guyana Province. Suvalla Islands.

.. Suvalla, like many other countries in the 1930's, joined a massive arms race, and therefore begins to stockpile munitions by order of His Majesty King Gollum the IV. This was the scene faced by Suvallan Government Rescue Personnel when a factory producing ammunition for their new battleships that were due to arrive from Antara and Cape Fear in a few months time suddenly exploded. It turns out that the caretaker watching over the munitions was drunk and knocked over a shelf of warheads, which detonated inside the warehouse they were stored in. Miraculously, the drunken caretaker was able to scramble out of the vicinity with 2nd degree burns before the entire stack exploded.

21 November, 1930; Talia deploys additional forces to Africa.


-Today, the Talian government's first additional shipment of troops and equipment arrived in Eritrea as reinforcement against what the government has called "Ethiopian Agression." Among the new forces deployed are 2 mechanized companies, 6 colonial infantry divisions, 3 infantry divisions, and a cavalry regiment. The buildup is mostly targeted at Eritrea, where the Ethiopians are most expected to strike. The combined power of better organization and supply and superior weapons will surely secure Talian domination of the continent of Africa...



-As can be seen from the image above, our forces are much better-equipped and organized for modern combat than the primitive levies of the African states! Seen here is the organization and equipment of the 13th. Mechanized Company, which has been attached to the Pasubio Infantry Division in preparation for war. It includes 3 tank groups equipped with our best tanks for infantry support, the Fiat 3000. These weapons will surely overwhelm the warriors of Emperor Selassie! Organized into the Fire Support Platoon are 3 x Autoblinda AB 611 cars, equipped with 37-mm guns for supporting the infantry of the motorized Bersaglieri sections. Each company has a sizeable reconnaissance capacity, with 6 x Lancia armored cars, whose high speed and heavy armament of machine guns make them well-suited to the task. The company has a large logistic detachment as well, with 4 x supply trucks carrying fuel, ammunition, food, water, and other supplies. A field mechanic and towing section also services the 12 tanks under the command of the company. In total, the 8 x trucks carrying transport up to 128 men, who are supported by 6 heavy machine guns and 24 automatic rifles (LMG's) as well as each soldier carrying a short-barrel carbine and their officer's being armed with Beretta submachine guns. 2 heavy and 6 light mortars can also be carried, but aren't always. The structure of the unit isn't finalized yet, and the army has plans to re-organize the battalions, including the addition of at least 4 more trucks for the infantry, as well as an increase in the the size of the fire-support platoon. Also included in the expansion plan is a motorized mortar squad with 4 heavy (81-mm) mortars. An increase in the logistic capacity of the battalion has also been discussed.The re-organization will affect all formations in Africa, with the intention of being ready for war by 1934, but supply issues may push that back a few weeks or even a few months.

-The navy program has been kicked off with orders placed for 8 destroyers, 4 minesweepers, and an improved class of 6 colonial gunboats. Plans for the capital ship fleet are still being discussed by Commando Supermo. Viva l'Impero!

In case anyone was wondering, Bersaglieri are an elite light or mobile infantry formation of the Italian army, similar somewhat to U.S. Army rangers or the French Chasseurs.
