To the "nay-sayers":
Guys, who cares, it's fiction, and it was something to do. Ireland, in reality, may not have a need, budget or the manpower to operate 2 SSKs. Hell the Aussies don't have the manpower for their own Collins-class.
The idea was for a small Type 214 sized crew, 27 men, and only 2 submarines. Not a severe pull from the ranks either. 54 men for 2 subs, that's pretty good for a small nation. 5 officers: Captain, XO, CMO, Dive Officer, and Chief Engineer, anything else can be handled by Senior NCOs. Technically there goes your argument about manpower.
Point is, that it was a bit of fun, and considering St. Paddy's day is coming up... Why not?
