Shipbucket

I had no inspiration for drawing ships so I tried with something new - to draw a house.

My fisrt attempt is the "Grand Haga palace". It was ordered by the Swedish king Gustavus III. (1771-1792). He loved the area where in 1780s had a romatic park made for his recreation. But he wanted more. He started palace plans in classical Italian styles. But after a while he changed architects because he wanted a more strict classical palace, now not just for recreation but also as a national monument for fien arts.

The building was started in 1785 but dragged on due to lack of money beacuse of costly wars. As the king was shot at an opera ball in 1792 the basement was finished, the work stopped an never restarted. The bricks was used for the wings at nearby Karlberg palace and military academy.

Today the ruins of the basement remains aswell as the park as popular recrational area in Stockholm. There are also two other small palaces in the park, Gustauvs IIIs Pavilion, which was built for the king when he waited for his grand new castle. It is probably one of Sweden's (and maybe Europes) finest late 18th century interiors. There is also the Haga castle, where the present crownprincess of Sweden lives.

As I was not sure of the palace's color I made two suggestions.
The upper drawing's colors are based on the only existing model of the palace.
THe lower one is painted in the sand yeloow/ buff color which was the true fashion color for lthe Swedish late 18th century.

Both are great, though I tend to like the bottom one more.
BTW you shouldn't have started on this as ALVAMA has enough ideas of his own, without you giving him more.

Thanks - hehe, I am currently working on the "Tre Kronor castel" (similar to the Towern) that burnt down to the ground in 1697. Maybe later.

Another Palace - the "Victory Hall" designed in the early days of the 18th century by Nicodemus Tessin who also draw the Royal Palace in Stockholm. The Hall was intended for de throphys from tge wars of Charles XII. Unfourtnaly the war was lost, the money run out and the king was killed in battle in 1718,

I really do like the detail work on the corner turret roofs.

Agreed this is some fine work, I don't suppose it was even built?

There's no such thing as "nothing left to draw" If you can down 10 pints and draw, you're doing alright by my standards

Well the text says it self.... But awesome palace.

If you want a never were palace... The Norwegian Palace wasn't supposed to be so "small" it was supposed to have big wings, and a building on the back side!
