we do not draw guns facing outward, but in one direction, either forward or aft-facing.

1942 refit. where does the space come from in your hull that lets your add those turrets and their magazines aft? were the ships build with a lot of ballast and space left empty in the hull?
1944 refit. where does the topweight reserve come from for the heavier main guns, radar and, if I see it correctly, heavier secondaries?

1942 refit. The space there was reserved as cargo space, similiar to the Cleveland class, only it's more extensive. When 1942 came, much of the aft section was reconstructed to hold more guns.

1944 refit. The ship would have a wider beam, similiar to a ship like the Myoko. It would originally be armed with 7" guns in triple or quadruple mounts, then get reconstructed and replaced with slightly heavier double or triple 8" guns. Also in terms of the secondaries, overall all that's being added is two 5" guns and which are now housed in gun houses. Also a torpedo launcher was removed.

Thanks! The actual history and whatnot I've stopped writing. I've moved that to a dedicated site. But I post my drawings here still.

Oh it's been a while since I've posted here. My older drawings are looking a lot different compared to my newer drawings, and thus they are constantly getting redrawn.

Re-introducing the Arabella and Carrywood classes, designed in 1928 and 1930 respectively:

Arabella - Original
[ img ]
1942 - 100mm guns replaced with DP 127mm guns in single mounts. 40mm AA and radar were added as well.
[ img ]
Carrywood - essentially a repeat of the preceding Arabella, but with a shorter hull, improved engines, improved main battery and lighter but less effective torpedoes.

1942 refit. Newer DP guns and radar, plus AA
