Heuhen, any chance of an older style yacht that can be converted to a gunboat/patrol vessel?
Something along these lines?

Perfect, Thank you! Even that rounded bridge of a late 1930s early 1940's US design!

Now for main gun options, like a quad Browning 12.7mm, single or twin 20mm & 40mm AA guns, or a 3"/50, or a 4"/50?
Hey Buddy, any chance of this getting a follow-up?

After redoing the drawing for "god know how many times"- this year. Now it start to look like something, but I am not totally happy with it yet. The interior from upper deck to lower deck... well I do not get that feeling that it sort of stick to getter, and I believe I can get more out of the volume of the Yacht.

had to stop on it for a while, went empty for ideas for a long period, at the same time I got a little bored with drawing. But I can gladly say that it is up next on the list, specially on my redo list, that are basically a million mile long!

About that yacht of your...

Big design, old style, details, at the moment in the big scale. but make them look correct... is one thing. but it's getting there. At the moment I am working on the yacht itself.

What I have gone for in the design, is an high end luxury yacht design, that have the: "I can handle it"-look. I have a little American with the Scandinavian "all-weather" know how design, with a touch of British Gentleman's yacht, with features of an boat that can handle the Atlantic.

What I have to do:

- design 30-40's era light
- some more shading.
- Adjusting the amount of windows used, some of the windows under the bridge deck will have to go, they will be replaced by portholes.
- Designing a 30's era lifeboat
- drawing a crane
- drawing 30's era navigational systems.
- Portholes in the hull.
- adding details to the funnel.
- find placement and design air-intake
- anchor
- Various markings
- Railings.

If you have anything that can help me, photos of 30-40 eras (details) that can give me a sudden inspirational ideas... suggestion on placement of guns and how she would be rebuild for that armament and task, are always nice.

This yacht must be one of the most time consuming project I have done so far.... Nighthunter wanted a 1930-40's yacht. I drew this... now I have to draw it as an armed patrol ship.

As armed vessel, I am going to do this:
- remove the aft small superstructure.
- forward superstructure replaced with an steel superstructure.
- closing off several windows.
- mounting two single 3"/50 guns forward and aft.
- mounting two single 20mm port and starboard, at the bridge.
- or possible (mounting four 12,7mm port and starboard, aft deck and forward deck)
- a simple gun director on top of bridge (suggestions, what type. pictures)

Historically speaking alarm med vessels like this didn't have much in way of directors.

That's a lovely drawing Hruhen.

I can not see much more than a 3" forward and a couple of 20mm in the bridge wings and another 20/40mm aft. All could be left as manual control.

Fantastic yacht, Heuhen, she'll look good as a gunboat.
