An update of the Californian Washington Treaty cruiser design, laid down in 1928 and serving through the end of the Great Pacific War.

And her light cruiser counterpart, now much closer and within hailing distance (note the lack of the blister hurriedly added to correct stability problems in her cousins) of the 10,000 ton limit.
