In accordance with this discussion I had with Gollevainen, I intend to go over as many aircraft as I can over the next week. I think it would be safe to say that I have just about the largest collection of anyone (at over 450 files in Shipbucket/Planes on my hard drive -and this doesn't include a lot of individuals AU sheets (that have additional drawings). I plan to do this as follows:

1. Sort the files I have by type -
   1. Fixed wing
      vs.
   2. Rotary
      vs.
   3. Other (Tilt Rotor, Tilt wing, and UAVs)
2. Further sort by Generation
   1. Modern (1955+)
      Then
   2. Pre 1955
      Then
   3. Never Built
      Then (maybe)
   4. AU ←This is quite up in the air, as I'm not sure I want to pollute the archive with them
3. Craft that are drawn correctly will then be placed in the most bland form that I have (IE only the default F-16s, not those in national livery) on a series of Aircraft Parts Sheets. The sorting of said sheets is still up in the air, but will either match the original layout, or the more recent layout that Klagldsf developed.
4. A list of aircraft that are drawn and correct will then be produced from this chart.
5. A list of drawn, but incorrect aircraft will also be produced. (This will help fix the situation we have now where I have something like 4 versions of the Harrier in the directory)

Any assistance in this project would be appreciated, and I may find myself asking for some as it goes on.

One aspect that I have asked around about, and received some feedback on already is what is the 'Fudge Factor' that is acceptable? The general feedback is that with aircraft we should allow for a fudge factor of up to two pixels on total length. Further staff feedback on this would be greatly appreciated.

I would like that (toghether with AU) movie aircraft would be added, but with slightly more importance then AU ones....... but that is only for the last step of all. other then that, I applaud for this effort, and I will soon fix all dutch parts sheet aircraft that aren't done without colour for this new sheet

what sort of sheet you have on mind? care to post like a blank copy of it?

Overally this is great project if it bears fruit, expecially if it produces up to date sheets to be uploaded to the mainsite.

The working Sheets are going to be a hodge-podge and not to any real spec. As for the final sheets, I'd like to keep them no more than 1500 pixels wide, and with a similar layout (broadly) to the old sheets, only with a much more ordered positioning of craft (yay for layers and grids).

Yea... the smaller and compact the sheets are, the better (and uploadable). Better make more small sheets than few too large ones...

One thing that might crop up is large aircraft my nation/manufacturer. I'm thinking about putting Boeing one one sheet, Airbus on another, with other large aircraft makers on a third (For the Tanker/Transport/LRMPA sheet, which is probably going to be the first done).

Hmmm, I have few PERSONNAL opinion about this:
- Separate MILITARY and CIVIL aircraft
- Separate BIPLANES/TRIPLANES (1910-1930's) and MONOPLANES (1930's-1950's) propeller-military aircrafts

Jets GENERATIONS
- FIRST generation: subsonic and unswept wings, guns main armament (1939-1946)
- SECOND generation: subsonic + and, few unswept-wings, more others with swept-wings, guns main armament, few with rocket and prototype missiles (1947-1953)
- THIRD generation: first supersonic/bisonics, swept-wing, guns + rocket + missiles (1954-1960's)
- FOURTH generation: full bisonics, full radars/missiles suite (1970+)
- ect.....

Mike, unless you are volunteering to start sorting aircraft by type into individual files, I don't find your suggestions all that helpful.

I think a two pixel fudge rule would work ok although accuracy to 1 pixel out would be better if possible.
This is a huge effort and its one to be applauded.
