LOL, ok, understood! Well, to answer you then: Yes, indeed, the simplest way could've been to simply copy the Danish F3500-class. But, since for political reasons, the Swedish Parliament (Riksdagen) resolved to purchase a complete European AAW-system, and, if possible co-operate on it, the logical choice would be the Sylver-Aster system. In fact, the destroyers are emplying the British developed Sea Viper derivative with the BAE Sampson AESA Series II multi-function radar. The ships are based on the DanFlex system, enabling easy change or adding-on of systems, but they are slightly wider, and considerably longer, with the VLS placed on the focs'le. Also, they carry four quadlaunchers of the indigenous RBS15 MkIII, as well as a VLS system on the 01-level amidships for the Umkontho CIWS missile system. They also have a different propulsion system, more similar to the Dutch LCFs, necessitating rewamping of the exhaust system, giving two bigger, slanted uptakes and two smaller, likewise slanted ones abaft those, lending the ships a very distinct profile.

And Kim, thank you for your offer. Maybe I decide, just for comparison sake to take you up on your offer, but using an armament more suitable for Swedish needs!
