I drew an accurate version of the 5/25. It should be in the parts section, if I'm not wrong. Otherwise you can cannibalize it from my Northampton-class Augusta. You should really use that one. Your propellers are also way too large for a ship the size of yours. You can find smaller ones easily by looking at other light cruisers of the period. The double storage davits for the boats would've been a no-no for the USN. Export cruisers, maybe. You also need to add appropriate motorboats/ -barcasses etc. Your bridge looks reasonable, but I would check the windows; your window pillars are way too thick, for the period. The bridge wings are bland, have no angles and thus appear to just "shoot" straight aft, which in real life they wouldn't. Look at the Augusta again, which picture will give you ideas about such USN standard features as wind deflectors (features absent on Karle94:s drawings). Also they are way too long. US cruisers of this period featured an integrated conning tower (CT) which you don't seem to have. That's a must!
Take a look, again, at the Augusta, and feel inspired to improve your forward mast. On the hull, I'd continue the portholes forward and aft; your arrangement currently is mildly odd.
You're definitely getting there, so this is a commendable effort at a smaller light cruiser.
-I have multiple part sheets on my computer. None of them have the gun you suggested. I think the sheets need updating because I found many weapons from US ships not found on the sheet
-I originally had the 5/25 gun on the ship but someone told me a ship of that period would not have that particular gun
-What wind deflectors are you talking about?
-What is an integrated conning tower?

Look here: circled in red are the bridge wing wind deflectors; in blue: a 5/25 AA-gun; in green: the integrated CT. Is this helpful?

Also, if you're going to equip your ship with aircrafts, these are the correct type to use.

Is that an armored conning tower? I was under the impression they were just viewing slits for surface lookouts.

Once again you are all getting back into the "ship designing" angerposts. ;)

Colo:the last part of your comment I didn't get. As far as I'm concerned, please show me the "anger post"! I think I've been only very appropriate and helpful by actually posting an illustration to my suggestions. But knowing your disposition, I can never be too sure....

As for your first part, it's far simpler: yes, it was, in fact, an armored CT, with 2 to 3 lbs of STS splinter protection. Though not as heavy as in a BB, they still added weight, and, on the Wichita, for instance, it was completely removed in 1943, due to weight concern, since on that ship it was a separate structure.

Just a shot across the bow so-to-speak before Gollevainen has to come scold us again. ;)

Well, I don't think I've been unduly impolite or anything; i'm actually trying to help, for whatever it's worth... - I think this design can be made worthwhile actually.

Seeing as how this drawing is not in the beginners' section, and Tristan has quite obviously mastered the basics of shipbucketing, would it not be prudent to discuss the drawing, and the design as well?

I thought I was doing exactly that!

Well my mistake. I'm far from mastering anything on this site.
