It's too early to have 5"/38s. Put on the 5"/25s that's used on the other cruisers of that time period. I reccon 4 should be enough. Put them near where the aft 5 inch turrets are placed. Also, the main mast should be atleast twice as tall. You can also get more space if you move gun turret #3 closer to #4.

Floatplanes are essential for any prewar cruiser.

You need recon planes. A hangar is not a neccessity, but could be quite handy.

So you've gone from drawing a classic four-stack World War I/Treaty era light/scout cruiser to drawing basically a rip of the Portland/Northamptons... cool.

Yeah this was an epic fail for me. I've pretty much just taken the guns from the Pensacola and stuck it onto the hull of a Northampton.



It was fun to draw, but quite literately just a waste of time. That's what happens when I take your advice -_-

Well, if you've learned from it I wouldn't count it as an epic fail - USN cruiser designs were, for what they were required to do, fairly solid designs, so something that ends up looking like them is at least going to be practical. (I do feel your pain, kind of, the AU stuff I've done all somewhat resembles overgrown Konigsbergs, but at least they've got a familial thing going on...)

Regards the modular concept, I think the first thing to do is decide what the different roles are. I still don't entirely understand what you'd be taking away (and what you'd be replacing it with) in order to pursue the modular concept in the first place.
