Hej din norske gutte! 8-) Bretons are tough! Just think about Kersaint, Kerlessy de Trogoff, St Allouarn (Older and Younger) and a whole host of other Fench naval heros! Brittany is France's Cornwall! :D

De Grasse as commissioned September 10, 1956:

De Grasse was laid down in 1939 but do to the fortunes of war was finally launched in 1946 one year after the end of WWII. The completion of De Grasse was halted again between 1946 and 1951. In 1951 De Grasse was towed to the Brest Navy yard to be completed, to a significantly modified design as an anti-aircraft cruiser.

Armament:
16 × 127 mm guns (8 twin turrets)
20 × 57 mm guns (10 twin turrets)
No more aircraft and no more torpedo
Her sea trials began on 17 August 1954 and after 17 years she was commissioned on September 10, 1956.
Here is De Grasse as she appeared on September 10, 1956:

A very fine drawing of the last of the gun cruisers.
Makes an interesting comparison with the GW series of cruisers I've been doing which from the same time (but would of course had completed over half a decade later.
