De Grasse as commissioned September 10, 1956:
De Grasse was laid down in 1939 but do to the fortunes of war was finally launched in 1946 one year after the end of WWII. The completion of De Grasse was halted again between 1946 and 1951. In 1951 De Grasse was towed to the Brest Navy yard to be completed, to a significantly modified design as an anti-aircraft cruiser.

16 × 127 mm guns (8 twin turrets)
20 × 57 mm guns (10 twin turrets)

Her sea trials began on 17 August 1954 and after 17 years she was commissioned on September 10, 1956.
