Dresden 162
[ img ]

The 162 is the latest and so far most successful airplane of the East German aircraft industrie. Developed as a successor to the An-24 it is build in two versions: the passenger liner 162R (R for Regionalflieger) and the transport aircraft 162T (T for Transportflieger), which has a longer fuselage and a new aft section with a ramp.
First flown in 1985, it entered service with the NVA in 1988 (162T) and with Interflug in 1989 (162R). Although the major aircraft supplier within the Warzaw Pact are still Antonov, Ilyushin and Tupolev, the 162 was quite successful on the market with 81 162R built for Interflug, Lot and CSA, and 27 162T built for the NVA and the Czechoslovakian Air Force.

Love the 162. Any chance it could end up in FD scale?

I love the Dresden 162. Looks like the perfect jet-powered An-24/26 replacement.

Nice. That reminds me of finishing my SB-scale VF-4 from Macross 2012.
