The
Minas Gerais-class battleships were four battleships of the Brazilian Navy, ordered as World War I loomed, and launched in 1914–1916. There were originally to have been eight of the class, but four were later redesigned, becoming the Constituição-class battleships.

The
Constituição-class battleships were a class of four super-dreadnoughts of the Brazilian Navy commissioned in 1916–18. These battleships were superior in firepower, protection and speed to their Brazilian Navy predecessors of the Minas Gerais class from which they are derived as an incremental step in firepower.
