That is a very nice update for this lovely destroyer.
Keep it on Thiel!

Thanks everyone. I've got a couple of upgrades for her in the works.

A slight update
[ img ]

And the 1979 upgrade
[ img ]
One 120mm gun has been replaced with NATO SeaSparrow and launcher. Two Denetzy directors have been lost, which means the beam 40mm guns can only engage one target per side, rather than two, but on the upside the ship now has all-round missile coverage. Four 21in torpedo tubes has also made an appearance because why not? I haven't decided whether they'll be anti surface only, or proper dual mode ones. ASW weapons are a bit scarce at the moment, so I might go for the latter.
SeaGnat launchers has been fitted between the funnels to supplement the rocket based ones used earlier and the Mk 13 launcher has been cleared for Harpoon launching. Not sure how many will be carried that way yet since it cuts into the SAM magazine. A couple of box launchers might make an entry later, possibly on the fantail. A commercial surface search radar has been installed above the bridge and RHIBs have replaced the small boats.

I'm afraid there's a typo in the url tags (You missed the [ in the final tag) so to see the drawing one needs to copy-paste the link into the address bar and make necessary corrections.
It looks interesting, although from purely esthetical point of view I prefer the original version (with two 120mm turrets).

It should be fixed now.

I get where you're coming from, but while having four 120mm guns is nice, it kinda pales when your enemy is getting ready to chuck supersonic anti-ship missiles around.
This was the only practical setup I could come up with that gives me all round AA coverage against modern threats.

I'm currently working on a late eighties upgrade that'll include some major modifications, both in regards to weapons and electronics. I'm shopping around for a decent CIWS solution. Currently I'm, leaning towards the Oerlikon/OTO twin 35mm GDM-A, but so far I haven't been able to find any decent sources to draw it from

Thanks.
Does anyone have a decent reference for the Oerlikon GDM-A mounting? Or failing that, the Turkish Dogan class FAC?

Thanks. I'm working on a successor, but springsharp is spassing out on me. It insist that a 170x16x7m ship has a displacement of more than 100,000 tons
