well, let's say.
I've given it another engine system, removed the rhib bay and a lot of other equipment in the stern....
but thanks for finding the antisbub issue, will fix that ;) I was planning to add some torpedo tubes, but I totally forgot them.
the weapons? I have sacrifised another RHIB bay for the VLS, removed the crane and instead added an storage room, for the stuff that was on the place where the goalkeeper is now. so the only space sacrifised was for the antiship missile.

but, I agree, it's not an fast ship. but it is not an fleet escort, but an merchant and auxilary escort, and for that it is an relatively cheap ship with quite the weapons fit.

What did you replace the engines with? It's already got one of the most economical powerplants available.
If you go for gas turbines range is going to go down, even with the increased bunker capacity.
Also, does it have the excess power and cooling capacity to mount all the weapons you've specified?

cooling and power.... well power just needs an more powerfull diesel :P and for the cooling.... well, I have to look at that, but only the missiles are really 'new'.... so I'll have to add some more cooling systems for that.

Diesel electric propulsion isn't more efficient than a reduction gear at cruising speed, and without IEP it's not at lower or higher speeds either. It has some other advantages, but those mostly relate to low speed manoeuvrability and bollard pull.

No it's not.
With reduction gear you'll need a diesel engine and a gear.
With Diesel Electric you'll need a generator, a diesel engine and an electric motor.
Having seen a couple of DL installations and reduction geared ones of equivalent output I can tell you that the gear takes up less space than a em/gen combo.

yes, but you will need an (slightly) smaller engine for dieselelectric. and you can move the engine system a lot more. it is not really that much smaller indeed, but the electrical engine can be moved to the best position, while the diesel can be placed where there is space, even in the bow or whatever you want.

No, you need the same size engine. At design speed a reduction gear is just as effective as a diesel electric setup, so you'll need the same amount of power and that means you'll need the same sized engine.
I can show you the relevant math if you like, though it'll some time.

hmm, my research was some time ago, so I might recall it wrong.... so if you are REALLY sure, that's enough for me.
the ability to move the engine to an different location stays though, so for now I keep it onboard ;)

Oh you can move the engines about, at least within reason, that's one of the selling point of DL.
Another question is whether the hull will let you do it. Just because tour powerplant lets you put the engine in the bow doen't mean you have room to do it, or that the hull can carry the load.
