Is there a reason you kept the quad 1.1"/28mm guns rather than replacing them with twin 40mm?

The quads aren't the US 1.1", they're a 25mm made locally in Texas. I kept them because they're "better" than the 1.1" and serve the same function as 20mm Oerlikons - and the slightly heavier projectiles make them more effective than the Oerlikon at close range.

When the Curtiss SC-1 Seahawks were introduced, they were often too large or too heavy for many of the older ships to carry. The Navy and the Air Force also agreed that leaving them exposed to the weather wasn't the best idea either, so plane handling equipment was often eliminated from the ships without hangar facilities. In a few cases, it provided room for more anti-aircraft armament, as in the case of the Nueces Class light cruisers.

The catapults and the torpedo tubes were removed, but the handling crane was kept because it pulled double-duty for boat handling.

The Texas Navy at the end of the war:

I did not show every single ship, only because the image would be too large to be useful. Individual ship names are listed below the ship image for the class. War losses are shown in red font.
